5 Tips On How To Avoid Procrastination

Mostly, procrastination is a sign of laziness, a sign that we are not motivated to get things done. But it may also be a sign that we are not putting our time and effort where it is due. I realized that I tend to procrastinate less if it is something that interests me that needs to be done. I also acknowledge the fact that procrastination is something natural sometimes and that it can not be avoided 100% all the time. So, do not feel bad, we all procrastinate.

I am going to share some of my tips on how to procrastinate less. Sure it will work for you too.

  • Do what you enjoy doing FIRST. When we have a bunch of things to do, that is when we are less motivated and procrastinate more.Try to always start by doing the things that put you in a good mood. For me, it is talking to my loved ones, eating and sleeping. I make sure I get as much laughter and sleep as possible and it always puts me in a mood where I feel like achieving things.
  • Find what your preferable time of the day is. This is important because your mind will automatically know when it is time to work. I know that I am more productive (especially when it comes to writing papers and assignments) during night time. That is when I am less disrupted and more concentrated.
  • Think of stressful situations. What I mean is that if you constantly remind yourself that procrastination comes with stressful moments, you will probably fell more the need to get things done to avoid the stress. As me, I am sure you dislike working under pressure so why putting yourself in such a situation?images
  • Force a start. As much as this is the hardest thing of all, it is the most important. You need to be conscious that things need to be done and put ALL your effort into getting it done. It is all in your mind. Let your mind alert of the fact that you have a heavy to-do list and a limited amount of time.
  • Do not be intimidated by imperfection. When I have to write a paper, I feel discouraged in advance when I have no idea of how to start my intro. It is not easy to come up with a perfect first line but instead, try to start with an outline of all your ideas (which do not need to be perfect) and your research. You will be surprised how quickly you will be set in the mood and you will start your intro without even knowing.

LAST IMPORTANT TIP: Stop reading this and get to work!

I hope this helps you in some ways though. If yes, leave me a comment and if not, still leave me a comment  and tell me your tip on avoiding procrastination.
